Our nonprofit organization is doing a bit of fundraising for an event at the end of summer, and we need some sort of graphic like a thermometer to track our progress. We want to get people really excited about this event, and we feel that a thermometer would be kind of a buzz killer due to it’s unoriginality hehe So, if you have any ideas on a more original tracking system, we would would definitely appreciate it = )

Thank you so much!

P.S. This is a youth program, and it would be great if the tracker could reflect that.

Use lego’s to build a church, or something like that, once our youth put their hand prints on tiles and then covered a section of the concrete wall in the youth building. Good luck and God Bless!!

This is a tough question! I will give you some basic definitions and then offer some more resources. First, a big question is the type of nonprofit you are. If you’re a recent startup, you’re more likely to get money from individual donors (rich or generous people who give you cash directly) rather than from foundations (large organizations that give away money). The reason is that foundations often have a much more formal process and require very detailed forms, budgets, etc.; your rich friend might just give you money because he likes you or your idea(s). Another distinction is between money that is program-specific (say, to run a book exchange for low-income kids) vs. general or operational (where you can use money for anything at all). Typically, nonprofits like the latter because it can be used for marketing, salaries, administration, supplies, etc., while the former cannot. Do you have a board of directors? Often they will have connections to donors, etc. Do you have professional fundraising staff? They are often best at the technical aspects of writing a grant.

Try some of these resources:

I have a degree in Business Administration and a Master degree in Business Information Systems. I am looking to make a change into fundraising for a nonprofit. I don’t really have any direct experience in fundraising and looking for advice how to transition into this new field. Specifically I am looking to start with a group in the Kansas City area.

Thanks.

One approach would be to get experience in nonprofit fundraising as a volunteer. This would let you build up directly relevant experience that will make you more appealing to potential employers. It will also give you the opportunity to meet people employed in the field, which could help your job search.

Golf tourney is a good one. Usually you can find a local golf course that will donate the course for the day, especially for charity.
Sponsor a walk/run-a-thon. Have a participation fee and/or any donations for each mile each participate completes.
Try talking to your local Chamber of Commerce. They may be able to give you more ideas and even help in getting the locations/supplies you may need.

I am the new director of a small nonprofit geared toward children and am looking for some new ideas (beyond basic grantwriting) for bringing in money. Any suggestions?

Go to www.benevon.com and watch their 17-minute online video. Then buy their books. It’s about how you create interest among individuals and then ask them for money. 75% of donations come from individuals. If you can learn how to ask for money from people, you’ll get it faster and easier.

Here’s a blurb from a big fan of Tampogo……

I don’t usually spend a lot of time talking here about my business opportunities but in the case I have to mention one.

For anyone following me regularly you know I am all about personal development, spirituality and fun! I am committed to making sure my businesses reflect that about me. Well last week I was introduced to Tampogo.

It is an online shopping center but it is so much more than that. Founded by Chuck Stebbins of Myspace fame and Isaac Macramore of Metabolife fame; they set out to create the most powerful business opportunity ever designed.

TamPogo is the perfect WIN WIN for everyone. Great prices for the consumers, great profits for the store owners, and a great humanitarian mission, as each product purchased feeds 1-starving child for 1-week!!

There has never been a humanitarian, e-commerce, network marketing company like TamPogo, in the history of the web. TamPogo offers FREE SIGN UP for both iRep store owners, and our valuable Customers. No registration fee, and no membership fees, no dues, no surprises!!

There is so much more I could say but I think it is just better to say Go check it out. Even if you aren’t interested in it as a business opportunity; use it to purchase products. Remember every product you purchase feed 1 child for a week. I know it makes me feed fantastic to know that little ole me in Howell, MI is making a difference.

Help me to help others and you help yourself!

A Review of the Tampogo Multi Level Marketing Program

Author: Brian & Jeff

The Tampogo Website was just registered in June 2009. They chose private registration, so I can’t really tell where they are based out of. Their concept however is to sell products on the retail market through a retail store type setup, and offer an MLM Compensation Plan to reps who want to resell these products.

As of the time of this review, it appears the company has around 250 products. The categories these products are in are some of the typical hot selling categories like Fashion, Health & Beaut, Jewelry, Nutritional Supplements and Weight Loss. I do notice that you can’t view the products just by visiting the Tampogo main page. You have to click Go Shopping then Just Browse Store or just signup for a free membership on this page and they’ll assign you a Member ID and Password which you can use to enter the store.

The first thing you’d do if you were interested in Tampogo is signup as an iRep for free.
Then you’d purchase a fast track product for anywhere from $20.00 to $30.00. You probably use some of these products anyway so it’s really no big deal. The next thing you do in this company is go out and find customers to purchase from your store each month. When they do this you will earn MLM Commissions.

The MLM Compensation Plan for Tampogo extends 8 levels deep, so you get paid very far down the pipeline. If you have 3 direct referrals, you get paid 3 levels deep. If you have 6 direct referrals, you get paid 6 levels deep and you max out at 8. The company has a Make Money Video on their website which explains the plan in explicit detail regarding how the percentages are distributed.

No they are not Amazon. And I feel if they are going to build a database of hundreds of thousands of paying customers in the future and pay 8 levels deep, they are going to have to learn a lot about customer behavior patterns and how to convince them to keep coming back and purchasing from Tampogo over and over again. This is an art and a marketing skill that can take years to hone and perfect. I can directly attest to this as an owner of an Online Retail Store myself.

Their videos look good but you have to keep scrolling to view the entire thing. I wish they just had them on a webpage instead of a pop-up window. Finally I want to mention that Tampogo is dedicated to ending hunger around the world. In fact, this company has been responsible for delivering over 11,000 meals to starving children around the world. They claim that any product you buy directly from the Tampogo Marketplace will put food in a starving childs mouth for one week.
